SympathyFood.com™ was founded by an independent funeral director and Mayor of Bowling Green, Virginia, David Storke as a "comforting alternative to flowers" for bereaved friends and family.

Floral deliveries have always been the accepted "sympathy gift" available to be sent to a family that has experienced a loss.  Flowers are beautiful, but sometimes they aren't the most practical gift.  Food has always been a comforting gift during these times, but distance or schedules don't always allow for preparation or delivery.

At last there is a practical and convenient way to show that you are "thinking of them" in a way that is appreciated and so useful.  Sympathyfood.com™!  Easy online purchasing that is offered and endorsed by hundreds of funeral homes nationwide through their individual websites.  Browse Sympathyfood.com™ and experience what so many people are saying about this great new concept.

David W. Storke - CEO and Founder

David is an eleventh generation Virginian and owns and operates a funeral home in Bowling Green, Virginia.  He was elected in 2006 and serves as Mayor of his small town and there he resides with his wife and four sons.  After 25 years in the death care business, David was amazed with the huge amount of money spent each year on flowers as expressions of sympathy.  He knew first hand of the senders good intentions, but was frustrated by the lack of choices available in the area of "sympathy gifts".

In 2006, David conceived of Sympathyfood.com™ as a way of promoting the Southern custom of bringing home-cooked "comfort" food to families who have experienced a death or loss.  He took it a step further and created an online service to provide food to anyone with access to a computer.  He calls it "a comforting alternative to flowers".  The food is delicious, healthy and always welcome.
